Skill Development In India | Skilling in India | NSDC | Training in Meerut

Introduction

In partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Posterity Consulting launched a government-funded project on March 31, 2024, to enhance youth employability in Meerut. Targeting 200 candidates, the program focuses on training individuals for high-demand roles as Merchandisers and Drone Service Technicians, aiming to foster economic growth and improve quality of life through technology-driven skills.

Approach

Meerut, with its strategic location and emerging potential in technology and services, was chosen for this training program. The city's population of 18.5 lakhs (as in 2024) will benefit from the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and modernization projects like those by the Army Welfare Housing Organization. The adoption of drone technology in agriculture, logistics, and surveillance makes it an ideal setting for training Drone Service Technicians. The retail sector's 20% increase in technology adoption over five years highlights the demand for skilled Merchandisers.

Outcomes Expected

The project aims to train 200 candidates with job-ready skills. The program includes PMKVY kit distribution, guest lectures, industry visits, group discussions, personal interviews, and practical assignments to enhance communication and personality development. Drone service technicians introduce innovative techniques to the agricultural industry, such as precision farming, crop monitoring, and pesticide spraying, thereby equipping trainees with essential skills for modern farming practices. Certified trainers and advanced infrastructure ensure high-quality training, with job placements expected upon completion in August 2024. The initiative will boost employability, support self-entrepreneurship, and contribute to Meerut's economic development, aligning with advancements in nearby urban centres like Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Lucknow.
