  • Upskilling is rising: Among engineers, 67% say their job roles are changing, 85% have begun upskilling to stay relevant. The Times of India 

  • Outsourcing giants like TCS are reducing workforce (12,000 layoffs) because roles like coding, testing, customer support are now more easily automated or done by AI/automation tools. Reuters 

  • Productivity gains from GenAI and AI automations are quite large: in sectors like call center management (80% potential productivity uplift) and software development (~61%) according to EY India. EY

TCS – Workforce Cuts & AI Shift 


Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that it is moving towards a GenAI- and automation-driven delivery model. 


As part of this shift, over 12,000 jobs (around 2% of its workforce) are being cut — mainly mid- and senior-level roles where employees have not upskilled in AI or automation. 

At the same time, TCS is investing heavily in AI upskilling for its workforce, training employees to use GenAI tools and redesign workflows.
